Rule Changes for 2008 WSOP

Rule Changes for 2008 WSOP

Posted on March 1, 2008 by Seth Young

Matt Savage and Jack Effel, two major WSOP icons, recently discussed and changed some of the rules in the World Series of Poker. The new rules, below, will be in effect for the upcoming 2008 WSOP.

  • If a player shows one card after the hand is over, he must show both.
  • No more excessive celebrations or "extended theatrics."
  • Online poker rooms which cater to U.S. residents will be able to advertise at the WSOP, but must use the .net versions of their sites in their advertising.
  • Cell phones may not be used at the table, regardless of whether or not a player is in a hand.
  • Players may not use headsets with devices that can be used for communication purposes, even if the intent is to just listen to music.

The excessive celebration rule will eliminate the TV time of players like Hevad Khan and Humberto Brenes, two players who received extended coverage because of their wild antics. What a fantastic rule!
