Posted on May 5, 2008 by Seth YoungThe Latin American Poker Tour's inaugural event filled up and is now down to 9 players in sunny Rio di Janeiro, Brazil, with Julien Nuijten of Holland leading the way.
Nuijten holds a commanding chip lead with $970,000, and coming in second in chips is Vitaly Kovyazin from Brooklyn, New York, holding $380,000.
Costa Rican Alex Brenes comes in 3rd with $324,000, followed by Nikolai Senninger of Germany.
Next in chips and in seat 5 is Juan Carlos Burguillos of Venezuela, and right behind him is Rafael Pardo of Colombia. Equardo Henriques is in the 7 seat with $275,000, and the two short stacks are Oliver Kugler and Severin Walser, both from Europe.
The winner of this event will take home $222,940.
