Allen Cunningham Wins WSOP-C Caesars Las Vegas
Allen Cunningham Wins WSOP-C Caesars Las Vegas
Posted on May 2, 2008 by Seth YoungPoker pro Allen Cunningham was the big winner at the World Series of Poker circuit event at Caesars in Las Vegas, Nevada, taking home roughly $500,000 and the coveted WSOP-C ring. The buy-in for this event was $5,000.
En route to victory, Cunningham clung to a short stack and managed to out maneuver a stacked table.
Going out first was Canadian Doug Lee, losing with AJ to Ben Fineman's Q9. Lee earned $32,204.
Next to go was Ralph Perry, eliminated by Allen Cunningham. After a series of raises preflop, both players got their money in. Cunningham showed QQ and was up against Perry's JJ. Perry failed to improve and busted in 8th place for $48,306.
Out in 7th was Thomas Hover, losing with Q2hh to 77 on a T-8-2-8-7 board with 3 hearts after getting all of his money in preflop. Hover earned $64,408 for his 7th place finish.
Blair Hinkle was out in 6th place after a failed steal attempt, running his Q9 into the AQ of Ben Fineman. He earned over $80,000 for his efforts at Caesars.
The next two hands saw two eliminations; first was Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo, moving all-in preflop with Kc3c, and getting a call from Allen Cunningham's AQ. Both players failed to improve, and Ace high was good enough to send ZeeJustin packing for just under $100,000.
Next, Motoyuki Mabuchi got all-in with top pair, but his kicker wasn't good enough. He was busted in 4th place to Fineman's KQ on a King high flop. Mabuchi had been holding K2. He earned $112,714.
Kelly Samson was eliminated in 3rd place to Ben Fineman's flush. On a 9-9-7-4 board with 3 hearts, Samson's 98 was behind the JhTh of Fineman. The river was a deuce, and Samson was gone in 3rd for $128,816.
The final hand came on a board of Q-K-Q-T with 3 clubs. Cunningham had 5c4c for a flush, and Fineman had AJ for broadway. They got all in and Fineman was drawing dead. Allen Cunningham won the tournament for $499,162, and Fineman collected $257,637.
